OVERVIEW

The Account Manager is responsible for leading the day-to-day workflow for the assigned client and/or project. The AM is also responsible for serving as a support person to a Senior Account Manager and Accounts Director on top-tier integrated accounts. The position requires sharp communication and critical thinking skills, along with the ability to lead internal agency team members to produce great work. AM’s should have a solid understanding of all marketing/advertising channels, their clients’ business and the agency profitability model.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for the overall account and project success for assigned client accounts.

  • Provide project management support to the Senior Account Manager on certain accounts as defined.

  • Manage up to the Senior Account Manager regularly to keep them informed on important project and internal team updates.

  • Responsible for mastering basic agency processes, developing positive client relationships and developing strong relationships with the integrated team.

  • Lead internal communication and collaboration across departments:

    • Input projects into project management system (Monday.com).

    • Set output and budget expectations for each project team member. 

    • Establish clear deliverables and timelines to ensure team alignment.

    • Keep all project team members and vendors informed on project process, details and updates.

  • Manage client billing (retainer or project-based) making sure billing department has accurate information and client’s billing expectations are being met.

  • Onboard new clients to the agency.

  • Responsible for all client meetings for assigned accounts:

    • Scheduling meetings.

    • Creating agendas based on goals/initiatives.

    • Inviting appropriate team members.

    • Sending recap and next step communications.

  • Responsible for researching and sharing relevant industry and competitive updates with project team and client (when applicable). 

  • Proactively learn and understand the client’s business to evaluate work based on strategy and objectives.

  • Own the relationship with clients — remaining in regular communication and managing their expectations.

  • Earn and maintain a positive relationship with the client to further agency partnership and align agency capabilities with clients’ growing needs.

  • Lead internal project management and execution of tactical work, providing strategic guidance based on client needs, goals and research.

  • Act as the client voice inside the agency, identifying potential issues, client feedback or technical roadblocks before work is presented.

  • Continuously identify ways to refine agency and client processes to increase efficiencies within day-to-day workflow.

  • Manage production vendor relationships, quoting and project execution.

  • Analyze results (media, Google Analytics, performance) and collaborate with internal teams to provide impactful recommendations/optimizations for clients.

  • Work with media vendors and prepare and present media reports to clients.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent experience).

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to effectively collaborate with different people and work styles.

  • 3–5 years experience in advertising, marketing or related field.

  • Demonstrated success managing multiple projects, schedules and client deadlines.

  • Working knowledge of agency departments’ capabilities and processes (social, media planning and buying, analytics, etc.).

  • Strong presentation skills.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and/or iWork.

  • Familiar with reporting tools, including Google Analytics.
